About Winters Healthcare

The Winters Healthcare Foundation (WHF) is a true grassroots organization, created in 2000 by a group of concerned citizens, including farmers, retired seniors, and business owners who lived and worked in the Winters area. This group wanted to improve the health of all persons in the community, including underserved populations in southwestern Yolo County and the surrounding areas.

WHF originally started as an independent non-profit that supported the work of a town physician whom took care in listening to his patients as well establishing an understanding of the patient's family and other circumstances that affected their lives. In 2002, WHF merged with a physician office and became a non-profit community clinic, and in 2005 WHF became a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).

Over the last 10 plus years, Winters Healthcare has grown to become the main primary health care provider for many community members, especially those with no insurance or those with public insurance in the service area. WHF has expanded to provide dental, mental health services, outreach, and health education to support patients in their health journey.

Each member of the Winters Healthcare team has been trained in the relationship-based model of care, learned from our friends at the Southcentral Foundation in Alaska; we believe our ability to develop relationships with each other, and our patients, relates directly to our effectiveness in our work and in the success of our patient outcomes. We use data for decision-making and embrace continuous quality improvement. The results of all these efforts has resulted in extremely satisfied patients, exceptional quality of care, and remarkable staff satisfaction.

We are in the process of building a new facility which will be completed in late 2019. This beautiful new space will help meet the needs of our growing community while continuing to build strong relationships so we can support our patients on their health journey.
