Make no mistake, Buffalonians work hard. But the men and women of this city also know and appreciate good art. Cultural attractions include the award-winning Albright-Knox Art gallery, Zoological gardens, and the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens.
The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra hangs out at Kleinhans Music Hall and great theatrical productions drama can always be enjoyed at Shea’s Buffalo Center of the Performing Arts. And speaking of performing: If you love the Bard, Buffalo Delaware Park is home to Shakespeare in the Park the second largest free outdoor Shakespeare festival in the United States.
And if that is not enough, don’t forget that right on the outskirts of town is Niagara Falls and across the border in Canada Niagara on the Lake. Feel free to spend an entire day enjoying both!
Shop Til’ You Drop
The city of Buffalo maintains a nice balance when it comes to fashion and what’s trendy. Shoppers can easily split their time between the bigger locations like the Walden Galleria or search out more intimate boutiques that are situated in and around Elmwood Village. In between there are endless strip malls and department stores all but guaranteeing that you’ll find whatever it is you’re looking for.
Wining and Dining
Don’t kid yourself: there’s an aspect of Buffalo as a blue-collar town that is certainly true. To that end you can always find a cold beer and a slice of pizza. But you’d be remiss to ignore that Buffalo enjoys an ethnic mix of dining experiences from casual to fine. Whether you enjoy a Friday Night Fish Fry or a plate of Buffalo wings you won't leave the table with anything less than a full stomach and a smile. With an estimated 2700 restaurants you are sure to find something that suits your tastes. And Western New York also boasts a number of locally produced wines, all of which are waiting to be enjoyed one glass at a time!
Sunshine and Snow
Buffalo gets more than its fair share of snow and with that comes plenty of skiing and sledding, but the other seasons of the year offer plenty of recreational opportunities as well. Biking, rowing, hiking and sailing in the summer are always available to Western New Yorkers.

So there you have it: things to do, places to go, people to meet! The best strategy of exploring and enjoying Buffalo New York is to take it one day at a time. Whether it’s the architectural wonder of Frank Lloyd Wright, or the state-of-the-art Shea’s Performing Arts Center or even the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, the list goes on and on. And we haven’t even mentioned all of Buffalo’s sports teams like the Buffalo Bills or the Sabres!
